"The world is in the process of achieving the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. But this will be achieved only if there is a massive increase in the electrification of final energy consumption demand. Something we all agree on "It is that we must promote electrification as much as possible and, at the same time, support this process with clean energy from renewable sources and batteries."
Giuseppe Turchiarelli CEO

The Enel Group was one of the first signatories of the "Business Ambition for 1.5°C" campaign, promoted by the United Nations and other organizations, and we are committed to developing a business model in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement (COP21) to limit the increase in average global temperature to 1.5°C. In 2023, we confirm the acceleration of our goal with the ambition Zero emissions to 2040 for direct emissions.

The Enel Group, of which Enel Chile is a part, has also confirmed its direct emissions target in line with the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C as certified by the Science Based Targets (SBTi) initiative.

OUR PROJECT "ZERO AMBITION"
Enel has two key objectives: to further improve the mapping of all direct and indirect emissions, while increasing accuracy and transparency in reporting; and define a path to reduce our carbon footprint between now and 2040, setting emissions targets in line with the path to 1.5°C.
Our response to the challenge of climate change is based on a resilient and sustainable business model. To support it, we have adopted an organizational and corporate governance model that establishes the specific roles and responsibilities of Enel Chile's main governing bodies.
Our direct climate impact actions are carried out in line with the Paris Agreement. In particular, our policies aim to promote the electrification strategy from decarbonisation and pursue climate objectives by involving stakeholders such as government representatives, industry associations, academia and non-governmental organizations to promote the Group's vision in relation to climate and low-carbon policies.

Scope 1 direct emissions

3,131 thousand tCO2eq (35% less than in 2022), representing 65.3% of total GHG emissions. The significant decrease is mainly due to a 28% increase in renewable energy generation and a 25% reduction in thermal generation, eliminating the use of coal in the process.

Indirect Scope 2 Emissions

4 thousand tCO2eq (19% less than in 2022), which represents 0.1% of total GHG emissions.

Indirect Scope 3 Emissions

1,677 thousand tCO2eq (24% less than in 2022) and corresponds to 34.6% of total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These emissions are broken down into approximately 40% coming from the supply chain, 29% due to gas extraction and transportation, 19% associated with purchases of energy sold, and 12% derived from gas sales to end customers.

Enel's leadership in the fight against climate change is recognized by the CDP

Our inclusion among the climate change leaders of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) with an A- assessment represents recognition of Enel Chile's role in the fight against climate change and our position as a leading company in the transition to a zero-emission energy system thanks to our sustainable and integrated business model.
